Sue Heley CMP, CMM

Heley Creative began as a childhood interest. Sue Heley CMP, CMM started her hospitality industry career at the age of seven – coordinating a neighborhood fundraising carnival where her passion for producing and managing conferences and events was born. 

Active in the industry for more than 30 years, Sue Heley has 15 years of planning and production experience, along with an additional 15 years in hotel catering and convention service sales and operations. A strategic entrepreneur, Sue Heley has owned and operated Heley Creative – an independent conference and events business – since 1997. She honed her skills further with her work at a conference planning company where she organized and managed large U.S. government programs throughout the nation.

Sue Heley earned the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential in 2001 and the Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM) in 2012. 

Further adding to her portfolio of industry resources, Sue Heley recently joined Experient, a Maritz Travel Company.  In her role as National Account Manager, Sue Heley consults with corporations and associations around the globe, sharing her expertise in sourcing, registration, housing and strategic conference management.

Sue Heley worked as an independent meetings and events contractor for a variety of international corporations during 2012 and part of 2013 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she developed proficiency in the Portuguese language.

She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Psychology, with emphasis in Graphic Design and Latin American Studies.  She has been a member of the Kansas City Chapter of Meeting Professionals International since 1997.
